KWK #8 was one of those effortlessly great nights, hosted by Mark at the new place he and Riannon will soon call home – move-in date still a mystery, but the dream is alive and well. We wandered through the space, imagining all the future memories waiting to unfold there, then settled into camp chairs with a round of G&Ts and some smooth Irish whiskey to warm things up. Martine set the tone with her race win buzz, Alicia shared the grind of marathon prep, and Mark kept us laughing and inspired with tales from the ultra and backyard scene. Steve’s return-to-running update had us quietly pumped for him, while Michal’s mountaineering mission had us all thinking of big summits. Laura, naturally, made sure her parkrun podium moment got the airtime it deserved. And Loch? Officially crunching numbers for EOFY, but we’ve got a hunch he found a more scenic spreadsheet somewhere on the Bonnie Doon golf course. Riannon was definitely missed, but we’re already looking forward to catching up at the next KWK up north – sleeping bags zipped and ready.
