KWK #11 returned to the Keppelgate for a special Monday public-holiday edition, and it’s already being quietly (and not so quietly) rated as one of the best KWKs to date.

We kicked things off with a full Christmas and New Year debrief, complete with blow-by-blow accounts of each couple’s holiday adventures. The standout story of the night belonged to Martine, who somehow managed to get bitten by a dog while helping a friend’s child who’d fallen off their bike. Strong early contender for story of the year.

So… what made this KWK so great?

First, the weather finally played ball. For once, the Level 8 view was actually worth talking about.

Second, Laura’s food prep took us on a culinary tour of the world. We started with Polish dumplings (following a failed trial batch the day before), before moving on to Alicia’s cake-making skills. Undercooked or not, the cake was gooey, chaotic, and absolutely delicious.

Then came the drinks. Michal lived up to his reputation for going big on Whisky Club, delivering a proper side-by-side tasting from the Glenmorangie distillery. Four pours, lined up like a very serious science experiment: the 10-year Original, 12-year Lasanta, 14-year Quinta Ruban, and Nectar d’Or. A true Glenmorangie deep dive, tasted and debated glass by glass. And just when we thought we’d peaked, Alicia arrived with what she confidently declared was “the best gin she’d ever had”.

Next KWK is #12 up North at Alicia and Loch’s 11th April.

  1. Fantastic write up Michal! One of the best KWKs to date for sure, top 10 no doubt. Such a shame about Mart losing her finger from that dog bite though.
