As the holidays approach, there’s a certain warmth in the air. The simple joys of festive lights and the spirit of giving make this season special. KWK#6 embraced the Christmas essence by tasting 2 fine whiskies at the newly acquired “Kepplegate”. In the spirit of Christmas and discovering new joys, the group raised a glass to welcome Alicia and Loch, who although are a promising addition to the group, will still need to earn their seat at the table. After a general catch-up, with some exciting advancements in Mark and Ri’s reno plans, Laura and Michal’s wedding locked in, Steve and Martine’s future long service leave plans (and Martine’s initiation traditions) and Alicia and Loch’s 5 hour journey to KWK, two new whiskies were sampled. Number 1 was Lark Christmas cask from Tasmania (bottle 282/2588). This one was described as smooth and creamy with a hint of gingerbread and fruit mince pie. Michal’s magic smoking trick came out adding a spin to this one too. Number 2, Amrut Single Malt hailed from India (via Michal’s dad in Poland), which was slightly complex and intriguing.
As the year starts to wrap up, the group drafted a 2025 calendar, starting off in Forbes St, making it’s way through to the Inner West for a pre-reno gathering before it heads up to the Northern Beaches and will finish down back at Bondi Junction (or wherever Laura and Michal are at that time). Signing off from the last KWK of 2024.
